Family:
Gam has lived in Phuket (an island in the south of Thailand) with her mother (Yada) and her younger sister (Sujimon or Kate) since childhood. Her mother, now a manager at the Bangkok-Phuket Hospital, brought Gam and Kate up by herself since Gam was 3. Her mother and sister have always encouraged and supported Gam’s love for singing. (Kate co-sang with her sister in The Star's final completion round in the song "Ter Pu Mai Pae")
Beginnings - the First Step in Singing
Gam started singing at the age of 3. The first song she recalls singing is "Tong Su" by Jeun Jeun Boonsoongnern. Gam then practiced other new songs as she watched those songs on television and listening to them on radio.
When she was studying in first grade at the district school Baan Sarm Kong, Phuket; because of her ability to retain song lyrics and because of her good voice, she was chosen for the first time to represent the school in a singing contest. This was her starting point for competing in contest to follow. The song she used to compete for the first time was the Traditional Thai Lukthung song "Sung Nang" by the singer Monsit Khumsoy. This gave Gam the opportunity to specialize in singing Lukthung.
Lead Vocalist for School Musical Group
Afterwards, Gam was selected to join "Sarm Kong Super Dance," a Loogthung club, as the lead vocalist. Gam's teacher Pairat Khamleang, from the Baan Sarm Kong school, also advised and assisted her by training her to sing more complex Lukthung, which took a higher level of skill then the common Lukthung, so she could shine and be more outstanding. As the group traveled and competed in many contests, Gam continued to improve and excelled.
In high school, Gam continued to compete and won many titles, medals and trophies. Apart from this, she also started learning other genres both Thai and English, especially pop-jazz, opera, and R n'B.
Continuously her mother has always supported her, suggesting an upcoming competition, dropping her off, and most importantly encouraging and directing her on how to live the life properly.
"The Star," the Big Step
In 2008, while studying in 12th grade at Satree Phuket Highschool, Gam decided to apply for "The Star" competition season 4 at the age of 18. She was inspired by the winner of "The Star" season 1, Son (Sontaya Chidmanee) who was also from the southern part of Thailand, because of his singing talents and ability to entertain.
She started taking singing lessons at Siam Kolakarn Music school just 6 months before entering the competition, and was able to demonstrate her abilities. As a result, she received overwhelming votes from the population and was able to take the title of the fourth star.
On Sunday 27th, April 2008, Gam was the winner of The Star season 4, at the age of 18. This was a remarkable moment, due to the fact that she was the first female to achieve the title of "The Star" and of all reality shows in the country. Gam won with a vote of 61.17%. Since then she has become a singer under the record label "Exact" in network with "GMM Grammy" up till now.
She has received a large number of awards from various organizations and has been recognized as one of the remarkable female artists in Thailand.
